CHANGING THE SECURITY CODE

To access certain functions, you must first enter a four-digit code. You
can set the security code to a four-digit number of your choice. On a new
phone, the code is set to 0000.

Follow these steps to change the security code:

Note: The security and pin codes are the same (factory default 0000).

1. Press "SEL", "SEL", "SEL", and enter your four-digit security code.
    Then press "ABC2".

2. To change the code, press "SEL". The message ENTER PIN CODE appears.

3. Enter your new four-digit code. For added security, the numbers do
not appear as you enter them.

NOTE: Choose a number that is both familiar and easy to remember. Do not
make a note of the code on the phone casing or keep a copy of the
number where it might be found by someone trying to access the
       phone.

4. Press "SEL" to confirm the new code.

5. Press "END" to return to the normal display.

LOCKING THE PHONE

You can lock your phone to prevent outgoing calls. Calls to emergency
services are still allowed, and you can receive incoming calls.

NOTE: You cannot store a number in memory when the phone is locked.

1. Press "SEL", "LCK0".

2. Press "SEL" to activate the phone lock. The phone turns off.

PLACING A CALL FROM A LOCKED PHONE

The only number you can dial from a locked phone is 911. See "Dialing
Emergency Services". Follow these steps to unlock the phone and make a
normal call.

1. Press "PWR" to turn on the phone. UNIT LOCKED appears.

2. Enter your four-digit security code (See "Changing the Security
Code"). This unlocks the phone. If you do not enter a valid
security code, the phone turns off and remains locked.

LOCKING THE PHONE'S KEYPAD

Your phone has a keypad lock function which prevents you from accidentally
activating a function. This helps prevent you from dialing a number or
changing a phone option.

1. From the normal display, press "RCL#", then press "PWR". The keypad
locks and the message KEY LOCK appears on the display.

2. An incoming call automatically unlocks the keypad.

To unlock the keypad at any other time, press "RCL#", then press "PWR".

NOTE: Disconnecting the power cable from the phone also unlocks the
       keypad.

RESTRICTING CALLS TO MEMORIES 1-20

You can restrict the phone to only allow calls to numbers stored in
memories 1 to 20.

NOTE: You can always make 911 emergency calls, regardless of how this
       function is set.

1. Press "SEL", "SEL", "SEL", and enter your four-digit security
code. Then press 1 to access the function and display the
    current status.

2. To select between MEM ONLY DISABLED and MEM ONLY ENABLED, press
"SEL". Then press "END" to set the option and return to the normal
    display.

PREVENTING UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO LOCKED MEMORIES

Follow these steps to protect the contents of all locked memory locations
(those containing a name that starts with an "*" - see "Memory Dialing")
from unauthorized recall.

To protect the locked memory locations, press "SEL", "SEL", "SEL", and
enter your four-digit security code (see "Changing the Security Code").
Then press "GHI4" to display the current status.

To turn the memory lock on or off, press "SEL". Then press "END" to exit
the function and return the phone to normal operation.
