Getting into Toronto Subway's for only a Penny ============================================== by Mr.E Disclaimer= I am by no way responsible for any damage someone or somebody causes by reading this document. If you want to break something and risk a fine or prison time, by all means leave me the hell out of it. In other words, if I in some way AM contributing to that slight increase in Canadian youth crime, I don't take responsibility for it. So please, use this information to learn and grow and not to piss off the TTC. The Deal= Ok, for all u people that live in Toronto and that are pissed about the price to get on our wonderful transit system, this is for u. What u Need= 1 = u will have to get a very sharp pair of scissors or some sort of cutters. 2 = u will also need an amount of new year 2000 pennies. What to Do= If u look at the penny u will see a tiny line of dots going around the edge, this is going to be ur guidline. Get ur cutting device and cut the penny along those dots with the very inside of the cutting device (the part closest to ur hand). Do not use the tip of the cutting device, it will be ten times harder to cut the copper penny. Try to make ur cut as clean and round as possible. If u get a few bumps in the penny, scratch it aganst cement or something. Now that u have ur penny, u may have notice that it looks like a token! ahh haa. Now goto ur closest subway station and go to where the turning stalls are, and insert the penny into that little hole where the token would go (make sure u hide it from the ttc opp, and use a stall that is further away from the ttc opp). There u go, the penny should slide right in and make a click, and just walk through like it is a nice day. [Ed. Note: You could also just use a file or grinder to resize your penny.] A word of warning= Although this trick will grant you free access to any subway station, be careful. There is currently one known station that is armed with an alarm, and that station is Eglinton. At Eglinton station, if you attempt to use a penny, a black strip on the turnstile will pop up and start flashing lights and a siren will go off. Luckily, I found this out on a busy day, and nobody noticed because of all the noise from the commuters. So be careful, and always check for that black strip on the turnstile when using a penny. Good luck! Conclusion= U can use this trick at any subway station in Toronto! Very handy when ur cheap like me. U save a whole $1.99\$1.39. Good way to get around town. Shout Outs= I would like to thank Nightmarez for the warning on this little sploit on the TTC. Mr.E 09/01/2000
