Well this week we've got something even better. My niece, at the age of 8, has written her first epic. Unfortunately, the story cuts in mid-sentence after about 2,000 words. Is this her Kubla Khan? If the process had not been interrupted, who is to say what could have come of it? And yet, the fragment we do have is enough to get a flavour of this child's talent. Also in the issue: a story that I believe would entertain my niece. Who says all the great myths have already been written? In this story you will learn as much as you need to know about the true history of the universe. Enjoy the reading, my friends. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ \"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._ _.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/ " " " " " " " """"" " " " " " " " _/"-._/"-._/"-._/"-._/"-._/"-._/"-._/"\_.-"\_.-"\_.-"\_.-"\_.-"\_.-"\_.-"\_ The Little Owl's Adventure by Jessica _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ \"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._\"-._ _.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/_.-"/ " " " " " " " """"" " " " " " " " Dear Uncle Joel Once there was a little owl he fell out of his nest and he had two sisters that where really mean to him and he had one little brother and he was really nice to him. A thriving fire, a single-entity fire universe. And it was good. Fire burned yellow. When it needed something to do, it burned orange. When it became bored of orange it burned red, then blue, then lavender, and finally white. Having achieved all of this, there was not much left for fire to do. It burned in combination: red, white; blue, yellow, orange; orange, white, white, orange. And still fire was not satisfied. Fire decided that it would be content if it had company to spend its time with, so it divided itself in two, then four, then sixteen, then two- hundred-fifty-six. Now there were two-hundred-and-fifty-six fires and they began to call themselves stars because they were so full of themselves and each one demanded top billing. Soon the stars began to quarrel and decided they needed a bit of distance from one another. After they were finished renovating, the universe large enough for the stars to be alone again. So each one invested in balls of dirt (planets), which they surrounded themselves with to satisfy their egos. The most innovative stars developed the balls of dirt by adding carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and other important elements that enabled life to grow on these planets. Soon there were plants and animals that would worship them for thousands of years. Eventually some of the more crafty animals learned how to capture small fires, enslave them, and use them to fuel industry. The stars hated this. They planned to wait until the right time to burn up and kill all of the animals and then eat them for dinner. They plan to do this sometime in July 2007. .-. .-. / \ .-. .-. / \ / \ / \ .-. _ .-. / \ / \ `-------\-------/-----\-----/---\---/-\---/---\-----/-----\-------/-------' \ / \ / `-' `-' \ / \ / \ / `-' `-' \ / `-' `-' The Neo-Comintern Magazine / Online Magazine is seeking submissions.
