Pursuit ends in numerous
charges

West Division constables observed a male tampering with a Telus payphone in the area of 170 Street and Stony Plain Rd. The male entered a black Chevrolet Camaro and drove away westbound. The officers attempted to stop the car on 170 Street but the driver sped away and a pursuit began. The driver appeared to lose control of the car and spun around facing south. The car then continued southbound and then west onto Highway 16X. In the area of Acheson Rd and Highway 16X the suspect turned the headlights off. The vehicle now was going north on Acheson Road as a train was crossing Acheson Road going west. A tractor-trailer truck was stopped for the train. The suspect attempted to stop but lost control and struck the trailer of the truck. The suspect then fled on foot but was apprehended almost immediately.
The driver sustained minor injuries from the collision.
Charged with numerous driving offences and impaired driving is 24-year-old Christopher Beer.
